Most people
don't realize what's in their food that they eat on a day
to day basis. There are different reasons why people
resort to all types of diets. The most common and also
the strongest of these reasons is represented by the
extra pounds, leaving aside all the other illnesses. The
strong desire in today's society to be thin has brought
about a range of diets that are doing more harm than
good.
If you've
tried hundreds of diets before with no success, the raw
food diet may be the last one you attempt. This natural
way of eating helps you to burn fat at a faster rate,
gives you much more energy, improves your concentration,
dramatically improves your health and can even help to
boost your mood.
Obesity is a dangerous chronic
disease, affecting more and more persons, including children
and teenagers. It is proved to have devastating effects to what
health and, as a consequence, mortality is concerned.
This should be a convincing reason for us to
do something before it is too late. In order to treat a thing
for good, you must first get rid of what causes it. So, finding
and eliminating the cause of extra weight is what should
concern us. Why are so many people overweight? Why all the
extra fat, which bears so many health risks?
Well, the answer is very simple: because
most people are eating unhealthy food, in an unhealthy manner.
Eating unhealthy food means allowing toxins to invade our
body.
We all eat this kind of food sometimes, and
the effects are to be seen in time. To avoid such a thing, you
should begin consuming raw foods right away!
If you've been hearing a lot about raw foods
lately it's because people are finally starting to pay
attention to what they're putting into their mouths and the
effect it's having on their bodies. It's long been known that
healthier diets are those that include a lot of fruits,
veggies, nuts and seeds and are often referred to as the raw
food diet.
Raw food diets are not the kind of diet you
go on to just lose weight although you'll lose a lot of weight
fast, but a lifetime approach to a better quality of life and
superior health.
Raw foods are only raw
if they're un-processed, un-altered, and un-cooked. Raw food
dieters typically eschew canned, packaged, or man-made foods
because they're very bad for you.
Raw foods are also called living foods, and
are essentially foods that are alive. Cooked foods include all
those foods that have been cooked, canned, processed, packaged
or refined, etc., in other words, anything that is no longer
alive.
Eating cooked food can cause all sorts
of health problems from cancer to obesity.
As its name implies, a raw food diet is
based on consuming unprocessed organic or whole plant-based
foods. At least 75% of the food remains uncooked. The diet
includes foods like fresh fruits and vegetables.
There is a ton of information and
controversy regarding the raw food diet on the internet. We
have the propagators, the persecutors, the passionate and the
bewildered. Most of the chief persecutors zoom in from angles
of nutritional deficiency, dissatisfaction with their food,
body temperatures and laws of nature.
Before engaging in a never ending war, and I
do not think it is wise or advisable to, let's examine what raw
foods are all about.
Raw foods refer to fresh fruits, vegetable,
nuts & seeds which are uncooked, unadulterated with intact
vitamins & minerals. They basically contain "life" in them
ie. if you plant them, they grow. Once we heat a food beyond a
certain temperature and process them with artificial
ingredients, the "life" is removed and some substances may even
turn toxic.
If you plant the seeds from a fresh apple,
you get an apple tree. If you plant the seeds from a packet of
apple crisps, you get either nothing or mold. Does this make
sense?
And, why is the world shifting towards
higher consumption of organic produces? Because we have finally
acknowledged the fact that long-term ingestion of pesticides,
artificial fertilizers and other farm chemicals is causing
disease and death. We recognized that the addition of these
chemicals are harmful to our bodies and planet earth.
With this clear definition in mind, let's
move on to nutritional deficiency. This is probably the most
debated about in the history of nutrition. We don't even need
to talk about protein deficiency because the protein myth has
been busted a zillion times.

A more interesting area would be vitamins
& mineral deficiencies.
First of all, we must be reminded that
nutritional deficiencies can be prevalent in ANY diet, be it
meat-based, all types of vegan, or raw vegan diets. There is no
standard benchmark to say that you will be deficient in certain
nutrients if you adopt a certain diet. Why? Because everybody
is different. Person A & B can eat the same identical diet
but depending on their body conditions, may experience
different results.
For example, research has shown that when a
group of calcium deficient people were put on a water-fast,
their tests show that some of them were no longer deficient in
calcium after the fast. Since they did not ingest anything
during the fast, they could not possibly have obtained it from
food. It could just mean that calcium has been contained in
their tissues which had been unabsorbed all along.
Those people had a problem with assimilation
of calcium, rather than that with a deficient diet!
For people who have had bad experiences
eating raw foods, it could just mean they had assimilation,
digestion or even mental block problems. Do not underestimate
the power of the mind!
A Raw food diet is the most logical diet for
humans. After all, our hunting and gathering ancestors ate a
large majority of their diet in raw form.
When we look at our anatomy in terms of
signs of our ability to catch and kill animals without the use
of weapons or tools, we see that we do not have the natural
tools, such as claws and sharp teeth, for killing the animals
humans now commonly eat.
Our anatomy seems to not be designed
for such activities. While animals in nature, which actively
kill animals for food, have sharp teeth, hinged jaws, acidic
saliva, very strong stomach acid, and short intestines, humans
have none of these. Our teeth are designed for grinding, our
jaw is hinged and does not unlock like those of animals which
kill and eat animals in nature.
We have alkaline saliva, very weak stomach
acid compared to carnivorous animals, and we have very long
intestines. Prior to our discovering weapons and tools, if we
consumed any animals at all,
they likely would have been small, slow, or injured (or dead)
animals, and only on rare occasion as long as we had a supply
of plant-based foods available. When there is food natural for
humans available, then there is no need to look "outside" our
natural diet
A diet of raw foods is a completely
natural diet which consists of organic and unprocessed food
only. The main idea is that cooked food loses its qualities:
the vitamins and minerals are destroyed during the process. A
higher quantity of food enzymes is preserved in raw foods,
which satisfies your nutritional needs.
Ever burned your self by touching a hot pot
or stove? Well think about the damage those temperatures cause
your food. Cooked food is constantly under these
conditions. Cooking living food rapidly kills the benefits
of living food.
Our bodies produce their own cholesterol.
That is why there is no need to consume "dietary"
cholesterol, which means there is no need for us to consume
animal products! If our bodies need more cholesterol, they will
produce more! If we choose to go outside our natural diet and
consume animal products, our bodies may then have too much
cholesterol, which becomes a burden. It's no wonder there is an
epidemic of cardiovascular disease among westerners, who eat a
large percentage of animal products.
When we look at true instincts, are we
naturally drawn to animals for food? When hungry, do we
instantly salivate at the sight of an animal? Do we
instinctively want to catch or tackle that animal and take a
bite of its flesh? Or suck its blood out? If people salivate at
the thought of animal flesh, they are likely imagining a plate
of food, already prepared: cooked, marinated, seasoned, with
sides of other cooked seasoned foods. That has nothing to do
with a human's natural diet.
In nature all animals eat living foods produced
by nature. Only humans cook their foods and
only humans suffer widespread sicknesses and ailments.
Humans who eat mostly living foods are more alert, think
clearer, sharper and more logically and become more
active. Best of all, live food eaters become virtually
sickness-free and fat free!
If you try a raw food diet, you
should to plan your meals in advance to insure that you are
receiving the maximum amount of nutrients. Also, it can be time
consuming to prepare all the foods you need so make sure that
you set aside the time to chop, blend and puree for each meal
every day.
